Come and boast of having been in paradise!
Bolonia beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful settings on the entire Cadiz coast and in the Parque Natural del Estrecho. Its golden sands and the transparency of its waters make this beach look like a mirage of the Virgin coasts on the other side of the Atlantic. It is not by chance that it has recently been chosen by a famous travel website as one of the 10 best beaches in the world.
Bolonia beach extends from the Dune of the same name to the North (declared a Natural Monument in 2001) and Punta de la Morena to the South (where the famous natural pools are formed at the foot of its cliffs). Throughout the journey on our yacht we will observe, surrounding it, the coastal pine forest and the Mediterranean scrub. On this visit it is essential to live the experience of climbing the dune and enjoying the view of the entire cove in the background.
An exceptional natural area, where the abundance of fish and shellfish attract a peculiar mammal that hides in the reeds and reeds on the shore: the otter. This is also an area of concentration and return of birds on the crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar: they rest in this place before embarking on their journey by sea. During the spring, groups of gliders return to their places of origin, in Europe, to breed. In autumn, however, the opposite phenomenon occurs, the birds return from the north to the south.
We depart from the Port of Tarifa towards Punta Cires. This is the narrowest point of the Strait of Gibraltar. A place where we can find different species of cetaceans such as common, striped or bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, sperm whales, fin whales and more sporadically humpback whales, killer whales and gray pilot whales. Everything will depend on the time of year in which we are. It is also possible to frequently see sunfish and tuna, and sometimes even swordfish or hammerhead sharks!
At the beginning of spring and autumn it is also possible to witness the migration of birds in the Parque Natural del Estrecho. Undoubtedly another of the great attractions of crossing the Strait of Gibraltar by yacht. It is no coincidence that it is considered one of the best points or “spots” in the world for birdwatching given the large number of species that can be seen great skuas, pomarines, gannets, Cory’s and Balearic shearwaters, fumarels, storm petrels, terns, razorbills, puffins, as well as soaring birds that cross the strait on their migratory routes between Europe and Africa.
This passage of migratory birds occurs twice a year. One passage in spring in a South-North direction towards the breeding areas and another in autumn in a North-South direction after the breeding period.
Our route continues from Punta Cires to Ceuta passing through Isla Perejil. An uninhabited islet located in the same strait about 200 meters from the continental coast of Africa and about 8 km northeast of the urban center of the city of Ceuta. Behind Isla Perejil we will find Mount Musa, a promontory of 839 m. high, located north of Morocco along the coast of the Strait. The end of our outward journey is the city of Ceuta, where we will dock at its marina, the Marina de Hércules.
Once there we propose:
Its proximity to Moroccan lands and its privileged location in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea give its gastronomy an exotic and unique mix point. Fish and shellfish cooked in many different ways. Flavors from here and there with special mention of their salted bonito or flying fish. A still artisanal process, dried in the sun and by the sea, giving it unique flavor properties. Lastly, if you feel like going out for tapas, the Jáudenes and Independencia areas are a good option.
